Why I Started Sandbar HQ

If you’ve ever spent a day anchored at the sandbar — music bumping, drinks floating, someone doing backflips off a lily pad they probably shouldn’t — then you already get it. The sandbar isn’t just a place. It’s a lifestyle.

For our family, it’s our favorite escape. Every summer weekend, we pack up like we’re going off-grid — chairs, coolers, lily pads, speakers, snacks for 12 people (even though it’s just us three) — and head to Lake James in Angola, Indiana or Gull Lake in Richland, Michigan. We tie off, kick back, and soak up every second of that lake life.

And every time, someone floats by and asks:

“Hey, where’d you get that?”

Whether it’s our floating cooler, oversized mat, or that trusty auger anchor that hasn’t budged since breakfast — we get asked all the time. But the truth is, finding this stuff hasn’t been easy. It usually meant ordering from 3–5 websites, crossing your fingers, and hoping what shows up isn’t junk.

So one day, I finally said: “Why isn’t there just one site with all the best sandbar gear in one spot?”

Cue the dramatic pause…

That’s how Sandbar HQ was born.

What Is Sandbar HQ?

It’s your one-stop shop for all things sandbar. From boat anchors that actually hold, to floating games, mats, dry bags, and coolers — we’ve got the gear to upgrade your lake day.

We’re just a family that lives for the lake. We’ve tested, hauled, tied down, inflated, deflated, and floated on nearly everything out there. Now we want to make it easy for others to do the same — without the hassle.

And hey — if there’s something you want and we don’t have it yet?

Drop us a line, and we’ll track it down and get it added.

Simple as that.

So welcome to the crew. Whether you’re floating off Gull Lake or anchored at Lake James, we’ve got your back (and your bow).

Let’s make some waves. 🎶🍻🌊
